Hi, I am Dawn Michels Enterprise Information Architect residing near the Twin Cities in Minnesota. I have many years experience in relational database design and modeling initiatives spanning the Retail, Insurance, Medical Devices, and Credit Card industries. My employer tapestry includes Regis Corp, Target Corp, Andersen Corp (Windows and Doors), Guidant Corp (Now Boston Scientific), Fair Isaac Inc, and Minnesota Life Insurance (now Securian) and was the project lead at General Mills on their first Corporate Wide DW. To round out my professional career, and give back to my profession, I have been an adjunct faculty member at University of St. Catherine & St. Thomas, teaching courses in MIS and Data Warehouse Design. I have had the priviledge to speak at nine previous DAMA International Conferences (now called EDW – Enterprise Data World) and am currently the past – president of DAMA MN and have served on the DAMA I board as VP of Chapter Services. I believe in sharing and mentoring to the best of my ability, as I consider it the best way to continue to develop data architecture practices. I enjoy exchanging ideas with professionals in my field, especially on topics such as Master Data Management (MDM), Data Governance and Stewardship and MetaData management. All of these have one important aspect, that is the need for business and information technology collaboration. Without a business need that is providing bottom line value, why would we build any database in the first place. Feel free to email me here firstname.lastname@example.org.
